Rock House Farm Holiday Cottages are located in the quiet village Foxt in the Churnet Valley. There is easy access from here to the beautiful countryside of both the Staffordshire Moorlands and The Peak District. Immediately nearby there is a local award winning pub, post office and general store. A little further afield, the historic market town of Leek with its famous market every Wednesday and Saturday has several supermarkets and restaurants. Ashbourne, known as the Gateway To The Peaks, is only a short drive away. Stoke On Trent is also easily accessible by car. The village shop and post office is located a short walk away, or more cosmopolitan shoppers can take a short drive to Hanley.
We are located less than five miles from Alton Towers, traveling there by car takes approximately ten minutes. On your return, why not relax in the lounge with a cold drink from the fridge, or treat yourself to a night out at the local village pub (with award winning smoke free restaurant), conveniently located across the road.
Other nearby attractions, aside from the obvious draw of the picturesque countryside of both the Staffordshire Moorlands and Peak District where many people chose to go walking, include Churnet Valley Railway, Canal Boats, Blackbrook Zoological Park and the extensive Manifold Valley Cycle Trail. Or why not visit The Potteries, or England's highest town - Buxton.
For a holiday with a difference, spend the week climbing cliffs, or jumping off them with either a hang-glider or para-glider. If you prefer an engine, you can opt for a micro-light or quad bike. There are several local companies specialising in training for all of these and more.
If you're in need of an evening out, why not try the fare at one of several quality local pubs or restaurants, or just catch the latest film at Festival Park's Odeon cinema. Alternatively, pay a visit to the historic Buxton Opera House for a selection of the best Musicals, Comedy, Family Entertainment and Operas.
We are happy to provide information and directions to these and many more. |
